Who are we?
Martijn van Oorschot is a director of a consultancy firm, a writer and an artist. He lives in São Paulo for most of the year, where he has an art studio ‘The Faketory’ and he also works and lives in Amsterdam. He is a psychotherapist and holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology. He has been working as a coach individually and with groups of people for years now. He is the founder of the Doing Dreams foundation, helping people to dream a better world and life and understanding ways to reach this for themselves and others. Sabya van Elswijk is a specialist in care. She is graduated in sociology and medical anthropology and wrote her thesis on care for older people. She worked as a strategist at several institutions for care worldwide. She developed several concepts in how to take care for people with dementia and helped to implement them.
At this very moment she is doing further research to the care of with dementia in Brazil. She is setting up her own care centre. Worldwide, institutions ask her to help them with organization- and care improvement program’s and she gives lectures about “how to do”. Her latest book about dementia is published in the Netherlands.
She is the founder of the inspiration days, an initiative to help professionals to keep pleasure in their work. Inspiration day.
It is her strongest opinion that people should be taken care of in a most human way as possible. She rejects strongly the daily practice of treating elderly as a problem and a factor of unproductive cost, . It should be a test for any civilization whether taking care for those who really need it is considered a normal thing to do.
