DC Annual Drag Queen High Heel Race

The High Heel Drag Queen Race is one of DC’s favorite Halloween traditions. Each year on the Tuesday before Halloween, thousand of people journey to Dupont Circle to watch costumed drag queens show off their elaborate outfits and race down 17th Street. The event lasts a few hours and attracts a wide diverse crowd. This year’s event took place on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, beginning at 9 p.m. Some participants gathered as early as 6 p.m. to participate.
